"64," for violin duo, was composed for the internationally-acclaimed Duo Gelland. The piece is based on distortions of the theme from a children’s song I wrote as part of the large-scale musique concréte piece, "Für Sie Ist Der Krieg Aus." "Für Sie Ist Der Krieg Aus" explores my grandfather’s experiences in the prison camp, Oflag 64, during World War II. Both the number 64 and the text of the original children’s song have influenced the construction of this violin duo.
